German Holocaust films, until May 19
Ten critically praised movies about the victims of the Nazi Holocaust,
made by the German producer Artur Brauner, are being shown in Manila
this month. The retrospective series - organized by the
Goethe-Institut Manila, the German Embassy and the Embassy of Israel
and entitled "Artur Brauner: A tribute to humanity and tolerance" -
are being screened nightly until May 12 (7pm) at the Goethe-Institut
in Adamson Center, Salcedo Village, Makati City; at the University of
the Philippines Film Institute in Quezon City during May 15-19 (2pm &
5pm); with a selected schedule at Greenbelt 1 Cinema in Makati City on
May 15 (3pm, 5.30pm & 8pm).
Included in the program are "Morituri," "The plot to assassinate
Hitler," "Witness out of Hell," "Charlotte S.," "Hanussen," "A love in
Germany," "After your decrees," "The rose garden," "Angry harvest,"
and the 1991 Golden Globe winner for best foreign language film,
"Europa, Europa."
All films are in German with English subtitles; admission is free,
